Event Summary
The objective of this contest is to create code for a robot (built or purchased) that will start moving from one side of a field, cross a line at the other end of the field, turn and return to the original starting line. The robot that accumulates the highest score wins.

Quick Trip Basic
Goal:
- Primary - For an autonomous robot to travel from area A to area B and back
- Secondary: To accomplish the primary objective in the least amount of time.
Skills tested:
- Point to point navigation - Goal seeking
- Time to complete course:
- 5 minutes or 3 attempts. You must restart if robot crosses sidelines.
Course:
- 4ft x 10 ft (End zones are 2’ x 4’)
- Grey surface
- A and B side marked with a 3" white strip 12" from the end of the course. Think end zones on a football field.
- Perimeter marked with a 2” red strip.
NOTE: These lines are used for judging when the robot has entered an area by crossing completely over the line. The robot typically uses these lines for orientation and to identify when it has entered an area.
Details:
- The robot must begin in area A travel to area B and then return to area A.
- The robot must be completely behind the white line before starting.
- The robot wheels must completely pass area B line before returning.
- The robot may start anywhere in area A facing in any direction.
- Robot must be placed at minimum 1.5 times the width of the robot away from edge on start. Ex: A 6” wide robot must be placed 9” from the side of the matt.
Scoring - Accomplishments Points
- Shortest time to complete course:
- 1st - 40
- 2nd - 20
- 3rd - 10
- Starts on command: 0 - 5
- Reaches area B: 10
- Returns to area A: 10
- Stops in area A upon return: 10
- Not touching sides: 15
- Navigational skill: 0 - 10
- Entertainment value: 0 - 10
- Craftsmanship value: 0 - 10
Quick Trip Advanced
